other projects

When I am not creating here, I am doing other things... Like housework (who isn't?)...

I am a guide and tour manager for a historic walking tour company in Nashville, Tennessee, Echoes of Nashville. This takes up much of my time and in a way, fuels my creativity. I get to interact with people daily from all over the country (and even parts of the world). I get to share my passion for history and my love for Nashville (and do that as my work).

I also write for and maintain History and Interpretation, a reflection site about working in the field of public history. I studied practices in the field for so long, it is habit to write about reflections in the field.

I help my mom's quilting business, Cumberland Quilting Co. She quilts on her longarm machine (freehand) and makes quilts and other crafts to sell. I assist with assorted odds and ends in the family business. Mostly, I help her with her media stuff (like maintaining the website and blog). She lets me use her studio to quilt, too. So that's nice.

I suppose I don't do things like most people. But then I wouldn't be me, would I?
